I’ve been making my own leashes for years. As a Schutzhund trainer, I use different leashes for different training exercises: sometimes I need a long one for tracking and sometimes I need a short one for obedience. Sometimes I need both at the same time for protection training. I use leashes that range from one foot all the way up to 33 feet in length and several sizes in between. I started making my own because I wanted leashes I could trust under the heavy load of protection training (dog and helper safety are #1), that were easy to hold and handle, and could stand up to the constant abuse of weather, mud, and dog spit. I also wanted the flexibility of customizing the length and I wanted to have different colors. As a dog trainer and owner of multiple dogs, I never have too many leashes!

Highest quality materials

Summit Kennels custom leashes are made with BlueWater synthetic nylon climbing webbing.  The material is strong and resistant to extreme weather, yet it is pliable and soft, making it the perfect line for handling your dog.  Strong enough to use as a back-line for protection training but easy to grip, even without gloves.  Smooth enough to use in tracking or on hikes and long walks, and easy to knot, but durable enough to drag across all kinds of terrain.  BlueWater is a family-owned American company with over six generations of experience in climbing rope and textile manufacturing.  Made in Georgia, USA this webbing is manufactured in compliance with the standards for mountaineering equipment.

Clockwise: Purple, Raspberry, Lime, and Red. Also available in Black, Blue, Rust, Green, and Orange.

The clip comes from Ravenox of Mount Vernon, WA; a Certified Service-Disabled, Veteran-Owned, business.  This heavy-duty clip comes in Nickel- and Brass-plated corrosion-resistant styles.  The clip is strong and the swivel is smooth, perfect for the dynamics of dog training.
