Why choose Summit Kennels?
Less Stress! The key to lower stress in boarding dogs is the environment. I have taken every possible measure to remove or significantly reduce triggers that cause dog reactivity, so dogs who stay at Summit Kennels can relax when they need to rest and enjoy themselves when it’s time to play or go for a walk.
The absence of visible and audible triggers combined with appropriate enrichment and consistent daily routines goes a long way to keeping the dogs happy and makes Summit Kennels a great boarding option for dogs who may have big feelings about other dogs or strangers.
For triggers that are unavoidable (like vacuuming, mopping, opening and closing kennel doors) I allow dogs to go to their outdoor area or use remote-controlled treat dispensers (Pet Tutor) to provide relief, create an opportunity for more positive feelings, and reinforce good behavior for dogs who struggle to remain calm in such situations.
