My name is Becca McCoy and I started Summit Kennels because of my love of dogs with big feelings. I’ve been training and titling German Shepherd Dogs in the sport of Schutzhund for over 12 years and I recently developed a passion for scent detection sports as well. I love the drive, energy, and balance of high-power working dogs.

My vision for Summit Kennels was to create a place where dogs with specific environmental needs could get the care and exercise they need without sabotaging your training efforts or encouraging unwanted behavior. I care about the emotional wellbeing of each and every dog in the kennel!

I am CPDT-KA certified and hold a Masters Degree in Education. I’ve continued my education into dog training and animal behavior through Fenzi Dog Sport Academy and Karen Pryor Academy. I am also a certified Pet Care Specialist through the International Boarding and Pet Services Association (IBPSA).

I currently have three dogs:

“Kunai”, my black German Shepherd Dog (GSD), achieved his IGP3 in April 2023 and is now retired from the sport of Schutzhund. He also achieved his NACSW ORT in January 2021. He currently enjoys canine fitness training and being a demonstration/training dog at Summit Working Dog Club.

Samson (black Lab) achieved his ORT in June 2022. He is currently training in obedience and scent detection and we are looking foward to titling in American Schutzhund and NACSW nose work.

“Jolene” (sable GSD) is my energetic young Schutzhund dog in training. She is just getting started in her sport dog career!
